Reedmaking Habits & Insights

An international survey for bassoonists · Approximately 5–7 minutes

How well do we really understand our reeds?

Every reed is different. We spend hours making, adjusting, and evaluating them — yet it can be surprisingly difficult to remember what worked, what didn't, and why.

This short survey explores how bassoonists approach reedmaking, which challenges they encounter, and what kinds of insights might help them improve their results.

Your experience matters, whether you're a student, professional musician, teacher, or amateur reedmaker.

The survey is voluntary and designed to collect responses without identifying participants. Please avoid including personal information in free-text answers.

The findings will help guide the development of ReedID, a digital tool for reed management and learning.

Thank you for contributing!

This survey is anonymous.

The record of your survey responses does not contain any identifying information about you, unless a specific survey question explicitly asked for it.

If you used an identifying access code to access this survey, please rest assured that this code will not be stored together with your responses. It is managed in a separate database and will only be updated to indicate whether you did (or did not) complete this survey. There is no way of matching identification access codes with survey responses.

How long is the information retained?

Individual survey responses will be retained for up to 24 months after submission and will then be deleted or reduced to aggregated findings.

Beta testing
